Following is a brief description of the different grades of maple syrup that we offer. • Light - Very clear, with a sweet delicate taste. • Medium - Pleasant, full maple flavour. • Amber - Darker, thicker, stronger maple taste. Extra light syrup, Canada No. 1 Its characteristics are a pale color and a sweet and delicate leaves no after taste sweet in the mouth. It can be used directly on dishes and desserts. The clear syrup, Canada No. 1 It tastes pure and light. It is mainly used directly on dishes and desserts, in the same way that the extra light syrup. The syrup medium, Canada No. 1 has a flavor all its own. Compared to the aforementioned syrup, syrup medium has a characteristic taste of maple and it is more pronounced for cooking various dishes. Amber syrup, Canada No. 2 has a stronger taste the syrup grade medium. Its special feature is its rich taste and distinctive. It is mainly used for making sauces that accompany meat dishes and fish or as a "secret ingredient" to bring out the natural flavors of the ingredients. Maple Syrup Nutritional Value: • Maple syrup is an excellent source of manganese, which plays an important role in energy production and antioxidant defenses, and is necessary for normal brain and nerve function. A portion of ¼ cup of maple syrup contains 100% of the Daily Value of manganese. • The sweetener provides 37% of the Daily Value of riboflavin, which aids in the metabolic process. • Pure maple syrup also contains 18% of the recommended Daily Value of zinc, which is essential for a healthy immune system. • Other minerals found in maple syrup are magnesium, calcium and potassium, decreasing the risk of hypertension or stroke. Pure maple syrup from Canada can be used as a healthier substitute to sugar in a variety of desserts and baked goods, such as pies and cakes.
